Driven by Compassion, Guided by Experience: Cecelia Davis-Bolden's Story
Cecelia Davis-Bolden is a woman whose career has been shaped by deep compassion, unwavering dedication, and a heartfelt commitment to serving others — especially the elderly and those facing health challenges.
She holds an Associate’s Degree in General Studies and has earned multiple certifications in Child Care Administration, Medical Assisting, Polysomnography, Physician Coding, Tax Preparation, as well as specialized training through COAAA and Basic Life Support (BLS).
With over 12 years of hands-on patient care experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Cecelia worked throughout Northeastern Ohio caring for geriatric patients with dementia and other long-term conditions. Her presence in skilled nursing units and assisted living facilities gave her an up-close understanding of the emotional and physical needs of aging patients. It was in those intimate moments — holding a hand, listening to life stories, offering comfort — that her passion for elder care took root.
As her curiosity and desire to grow professionally expanded, Cecelia moved into the administrative side of healthcare. She served in numerous departments as a float unit secretary, including ICU, mental health, orthopedic surgery, and rehab therapy units at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights, Ohio. Known for her calm under pressure, strong communication skills, and meticulous coordination, Cecelia became a vital part of the hospital’s operations, including admissions, discharges, physician order entries, and bed allocation. Her ability to make timely, critical decisions made her a trusted team member across departments.
Her journey continued at University Hospitals in Cleveland, where she supported pediatric cardiology. Her exemplary organization and dedication led to the creation of a new role — Pediatric Cardiac Cath Lab Coordinator — where she managed pre-procedure scheduling, supply inventory, and lab support, always ensuring patients and staff were well-prepared and supported.
In 2018, Cecelia joined the University Hospital Hospice team in Warrensville Heights. Starting as a temporary team assistant, she quickly earned a permanent position as team administrator. There, she helped coordinate care for patients in their most vulnerable moments — assigning home health aides, organizing admissions, and ensuring every patient’s needs were communicated with care and urgency.
Today, Cecelia serves as a medical secretary at the University Hospital Rehabilitation Hospital in Beachwood, Ohio. She manages patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and transportation, always with a focus on dignity, efficiency, and heartfelt service.
Throughout her career, Cecelia’s compassion for the elderly only deepened. She sat with patients as they neared the end of life, listening to their stories, easing their pain, and honoring their legacy with presence and respect. It was their smiles, their gratitude, and sometimes their loneliness that stirred something greater in her — a calling to make a lasting difference.
In 1998, she was recognized with an Employee of the Month award for her dedication to service. But her greatest reward has always been the joy of helping those who can no longer help themselves — offering care with the same love she would give to her own family.
Cecelia is joyfully married to Pastor Norris Bolden and is a proud stepmother to Desmond and Julian Bolden. Her journey reflects not just a career in healthcare — but a lifelong mission of compassion, service, and hope for those who need it most.
